When your task list has thirty or fifty items, the first reaction each morning is often: where do I start? This difficulty is not your fault. It is a limitation of the task list as a tool. It tells you what exists, but not what you should do today.
ToToday's Today Focus view is designed to solve exactly that problem.
What is Today Focus?
Today Focus is a filtered view that shows only two kinds of tasks: tasks due today, and tasks you actively mark as today's focus. Everything else temporarily disappears so it does not compete for your attention.
The result is a list of only 3-7 tasks, each one truly relevant today. This view is today's workspace, and you can understand it at a glance.
How do you use Today Focus?
Open ToToday and switch to the Today Focus view. The system automatically brings in tasks due today. You can also manually mark other tasks as today's focus and add them to the view.
Every morning, spend three minutes organizing Today Focus: check the tasks added automatically, decide whether anything else needs to be added manually, sort by priority, and confirm the first frog of the day.
How Today Focus relates to the full task list
Today Focus does not replace the task list. It is your daily workbench. The full task list is the warehouse; Today Focus is what you take from the warehouse and place on your desk for the day. The warehouse can be large, but your desk should stay clean.
Before finishing work, organize any unfinished tasks in Today Focus. Move what can wait to tomorrow by changing the deadline. Delete unimportant items or move them back to the regular list. Tomorrow, you start clean again.
